Manifestation by the plenipotentiary of the elders of the county of Sambor against the elders of the county of Przemyśl

Moszko Smujłowicz from Sambor, a plenipotentiary of the elders of the Jews from the county of Sambor, protests against Benio [?] Dukielski and Abel, Jews from Dobromil, and the seniors of the county of Przemyśl concerning the judgment of the Jewish arbitration court. The elders of Sambor sued the elders of the county of Przemyśl to the court of the region of Przemyśl and the county of Przeworsk. They withdrew the case, however, and agreed for an arbitration court composed of two rabbis from Bolechów and Drohobycz, and Aron, a Jew from Lesko. In December 1733, the court determined that the Jews of Przemyśl, had taken out a loan of 10,000 złp and 8,000 złp for the Jewish poll tax, and two rabbis (of Dobromil and of Przeworsk) swore under an oath that Jews from the county of Sambor were obliged to pay these debts. Moszko Szmujłowicz declares that during this trial he did not have all the relevant documents and that he is prepared to submit them at any time to confirm that the court judgment at this point is unfair and that the Jews of Sambor should not be obliged to pay off these debts.
